An angel, a demon and a vampire walk into a bar. Sounds like the beginning of a bad joke, but it's just another day in the life of Kyle McKinley.
Kyle was born with the ability to erase memories, and the inability to keep her opinions to herself. She and her teammates – a vampire who looks like a sexy pirate with fangs, and a Shamat demon with a penchant for Italian pastries – provide supernatural damage control when humans see too much. Today’s problem? A sword-wielding angel and a demon had a supernatural smackdown during happy hour in a Cleveland bar, leaving behind a headless vampire and a dozen human witnesses.
This latest supernatural slip-up is attracting all kinds of attention. So much attention that the police step in, and Kyle has to deal with Joe Dalton, a know-it-all human with the sexiest turquoise eyes she has ever seen. Kyle has no room in her life for yet another human who will treat her like a freak. However, Dalton definitely makes her naughty parts sit up and take notice, and it’s more than mutual. But before they can act on their attraction, they must join forces to solve a dangerous puzzle. And when they uncover the truth, the apocalyptic ripple effect forces Kyle to make a choice. Learn to trust again, or risk losing everyone she cares about, including Dalton.

Mind Sweeper Mind Sweeper Series Book 1 edition by AE Jones Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
There are some pretty familiar elements to this story: mostly, the wisecracking, excessively angry and defensive yet seriously hot and kick-butt heroine with a Very Special Gift, whom inexplicably everyone loves, forgives, and wants to protect. Kyle is known for losing her temper, shooting her mouth off and alienating important people, and soaring and showing at everyone. Yet virtually everyone finds her and her antics ever so adorable and lovable. She is also spectacularly ungrateful to people who have gone to great lengths to ensure her safety.Even so, the secondary characters in this book kept the story moving and engaging. Almost every other character was far more interesting than the heroine. And when Kyle first meets the hero, Joe, she is of course unpleasant to him, yet he still falls for her instantly. He practically kills himself through the rest of the book trying to accommodate and appease her.
Which is where we come to a possible SPOILER-Y point. The hero, Joe, has undergone great trials and challenges, but managed to suffer and endure. He still pursues Kyle although she pushed him away. Secretly she thinks he might be The One. Joe puts in endless effort to win her heart.
SO. While trying to decide whether to continue in the series, I checked out some reviews on the next installment. SPOILER:............don't read if you don't want to know......
In the next book, Kyle isn't even *with* Joe any more. She starts up a new romance with a different guy! All the tears and heartache and hand-wringing and "should I trust him or shouldn't I?" about Joe that finally, finally resolved at the end of the first book into a LUV relationship apparently is poof, gone, over. Kaput.
As a reader I'm irked that I spent the better part of an entire book with two characters agonizing over their relationship, only to find -- guess what? It was all for nothing. All their declarations of wanting to be together forever and...then they just don't, and she's moving along to the next man. I feel a little ripped off by that. I could definitely see how Joe and Kyle could have continued to work together with their team as their relationship developed, so I'm annoyed that apparently Joe is now out of the picture.
I gave three stars for the storyline and supporting cast, but I won't be buying any more books in this series.

Mind Sweeper Mind Sweeper Series Book 1 edition by AE Jones Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
This first book in the Mind Sweeper series could easily be a stand-alone book and is by a good measure the most well thought out entry in the series. The heroine, Kyle comes off as very cliche - beautiful "without knowing it", smart mouthed, overly compassionate and loved by all. It's the supporting cast that really fills the playbook and adds depth to the story. I really liked how the sleuthing/mystery angle carried the story with a sensible series of clues which led to an action packed and emotional conclusion that I really enjoyed!
SPOILER - in the next novel (not the novella) the first chapter is really horrible and sets the pace for the larger story arc - which is a step down from the quality of this first part - I have completed all 4 (skipping the second novella)
I knew that this book would be something unique and wasn't too far off in my thinking when it turned out to be outstanding. An intriguing storyline, a smooth flowing narrative with a wonderful sense of humor, delightful characters that include " super" makes for a delectable page-turner that has the reader enthralled!
Starting with a beheading of a rookie vampire followed by another killing of a shifter gets the investigators of BSR involved in trying to solve the killings along with all the rest of weird events that are happening around the town. These events take a bizarre turn when their new human team member, an honest-to- goodness police lieutenant has to take on a wacky role to solve the crimes! How this solution comes about with all the members working aided by a mix of all supernatural beings has to be read to be enjoyed thoroughly!!
A brilliant , exhilarating book that has left me craving for more! Thank you, Ms. Jones.
I really liked this book, it was a different twist on the genre. It has a strong heroine with a different sort of power, that doesn't quite fit in anywhere. The plot is strong and engaging, it had me up until I finished the book at 230 in the morning. The villains are numerous and the mystery kept me guessing until the end, trying to figure out who did it and why.
There was a vulnerability to this character that was refreshing. She has a tragic backstory, as many do in the genre, but it hasn't made her overly belligerent and blind to everyone around her. She is snarky, but still open enough to take chances on people. Which made the romance woven into the story sweet and believable.
I loved this book and will definitely be following the author to see what she does next!
I am a book snob. If I could, I would read a new book at least every day, so I'm constantly looking for a new book. And I'm also into not saying anything bad at all, unless it's so bad it needs a PSA. With that being said, this book broke me out of an extremely bad book funk. Right now there are only 24 reviews, which is surprising for how good this book is.
If you like Ilona Andrews, you will like this book. The heroine, Kyle is a sarcastic, strong woman, who has a hard time keeping her opinions to herself, and has an uncanny way of irritating other people. She lovable, funny, loyal, and smart. She remind me a lot of Kate Daniels.
This also is a love story, and I like the fact that it was a perfect balance of action, mystery, and love unveiling.
The third reason why I love this book is that it had the potential to end on a cliff hanger, but it doesn't. However, the book does make you want for more. I can't wait to read book 3.
